There are a lot of industries that changed due to the nature of the pandemic. A lot of restaurants have been changing and becoming different. Many of them are slowly opening up though, and some are choosing to offer takeout options for people. There are also pre-made items such as salads and hot foods, and there are also frozen foods too. One of the best options is HEB supermarkets. While many work with he demand, a lot of food professionals are taking into the scent too. Let’s look at how they were able to help many restaurants stay open, even in the wake of covid.

The Food Industry 

HEB is a huge supermarket changing that’s in San Antonio, with over 340 different food locations in Northern Mexico and Texas. They started out in 1905, where it was made out of necessity.


When the founder Florence Butt took the last of her life savings and created a small store in 1905, it soon boomed, and it was then moved to Harington, Texas. Then, by 1942, it took the time to create the first one named HEB in San Antonio, Texas.  Then, over the next couple of decades, the company hit some crazy financial goals, and continued to further expand across many different areas of distribution, and they began the food bank that they still ran to this day in 1984. 

This food bank is one that’s great by ensuring the unsold and foods that are salvaged, and they’ve then delivered many millions of pounds to different food banks. They then helped once again in the restaurant sector this time, and saved a bunch of businesses which may otherwise not have made it through the pandemic.

How they Helped Local Restaurants 

There are many restaurants that were hit especially hard in the wake of the pandemic. A lot of the downtime and the restrictions helped create a big problem for a lot of restaurant, especially those in the local sector. HEB started to grow in the industry, and they noticed a lot of other restaurants were struggling to get back to battery in the wake of COVID, so they decided to help other people. 



They reached out to different restaurants locally, and they started to partner with the institutions that needed aid to bounce back, helping to package and help with different kinds of meals to others. They also made sure that all of the profits from some food sales went back to these restaurants too.

They also helped with getting the packaging in clamshells, which are carded packaging types. They also displayed it all out, with different notes on the restaurant that needed it, the food, the serving and heating, along with different information.  This later on grew, and soon, they were working with tons of local restaurants all throughout different parts of Texas. 

A lot of customers were thrilled to know that many of the restaurants that they knew and loved were saved in this way, and they could take home some amazing meals from people, and the places were able to help you with keeping the restaurants afloat.



They also do give restaurants an edge as well in the COVID pandemic, and they also give patrons a chance to get their favorite foods as well, without having to worry about the possibility of the place going under. In this day and age, restaurants needed it, and HEB was able to not only help longtime connections and customers, but newfound businesses too! This changed their ability to get through thee pandemic, and with their help, they were able to achieve amazing success!
